What is Recycled Granite? Recycled granite pavers and tiles are created using left-over countertop material from stone fabricators in the Chicagolandarea. We use patented machinery to manufacture the scrap into various shapes and sizes. 100% of the granite is recycled, therefore preventing millions of pounds of waste from entering landfills each year.
How are the pavers installed? Installation is the same as with traditional pavers. A 3”-5” gravel base and 1”-1.5” compacted sand bed for walkways and patios is typical. For driveways a 12”-14” gravel base is necessary. Polymeric sand is recommended for the joints and seams. This permeable application is an important component in low impact development. It minimizes impact on water quality and sustainable drainage systems. It will also greatly reduce the opportunity for weed seeds to finda home.
Are the pavers strong? Traditional concrete pavers are 3000-5000psi. Our recycled granite pavers are 15000 -18000 psi, making them 3 TIMES STRONGER than concrete. The dramatic beauty and strength has been built up, layer upon layer, over millions of years. They withstand weathering and fading far better than any other stone available on the market.
Do they quality for LEED points? Absolutely! Recycled Granite Pavers can earn credit points in the LEED rating system. LEED Credits for new projects and major renovations earn points from six broad rating categories and of these six, the two primarycategories that pertain to permeable concrete paving stones are Sustainable Sites (SS) and Materials and Resources (MR). Pleaseconsult with your LEED Accredited Professional for specific points and rating methods.
Is there a warranty? Recycled Granite provides a lifetime guarantee on the structural integrity of its paving stones to the original purchaser of the product for residential use. Materials installed using our installation guidelines that proves defective will be replaced without cost. Color matching cannot be guaranteed and replacement labor is not included. Proof of purchase is required.
